Very limited OST from Death Waltz
BEYOND THE BLACK RAINBOW.....limited to 350 copies, now in stock.
Brilliant soundtrack by Sinoia Caves - aka composer Jeremy Schmidt - blends seamlessly amongst its influences of Tangerine Dream, Wendy Carlos, and of course John Carpenter, with the latter's mark heard on the oppressive synth percussion of the main titles and the catchy melodies heard throughout.Schmidt’s score is many things – haunting, uncompromising, intense – but is always a fascinating listen.

Record Store Day Feedback
Another Record breaker at the shop with the longest and earlist queue to date. First arrival at the shop was 12.30am on RSD , the queue stetched down the road by early morning. Thank you to all who lined up in what proved to be very chilly conditions. As always very good natured and the patience of those in queue is to be commended. By the end of the day most RSD stock had been sold but we still have a few items (only one of each) which we have listed on the updated RSD page.Over the road at the Daniel Owen Community Centre it was also a great success with thanks to all Record Dealers in the Fair, Bands,Richer Sounds,Artists and of course Brendan who supplied the P.A. and Ross(Rope) who put all the music on offer together .Heres to the next one.....

Record Store Day this Saturday 19th April
RECORD STORE DAY.
Is this coming Saturday 19th April which is of course Easter Saturday.
For those of you keen on any of the titles on the RSD list .......falling at Easter at least allows for an early night on Good Friday!
It seems from what we hear that people may arrive at the shop well ahead of opening time which is 9am on the day.
Confirmations of titles we expect are ongoing so keep checking our Website RSD page up to the day, this will be updated as we go to the day.
For tips and advice, again visit the RSD page. Although there are more releases this year but it seems that the amount of each release distributed to each Record shop is tighter than ever so be aware that we may only get one or two of most releases listed on our Website, this will apply to all stores Nationally and not just us. There will be exceptions were multiples will be possible. So really the tip is set the alarm clock and get to the shop ASAP to avoid missing out on that title you are after. The shop will remain open until 4.30pm whilst the other activities over the road at the Daniel Owen Community Centre are in full swing.
The plan for the day is to open the Record Fair about 9.30am to give those who called at the shop a chance to call in nice and early. At about 10.45 the Film shows will start upstairs at the Venue around 10.45am in the MOVIE ROOM and DJ's and Live Bands will play from 11am in the MUSIC ROOM,another room will house Merchandise, Art and Hi-Fi demos by RICHER SOUNDS. All in all should be a great day so hope you can make it. The nominal (usual) 50p charge for the Record Fair covers everything on the day.
One last tip for those visiting the shop early is to keep an eye on the Weather and come prepared in case its chilly (or wet...hopefully not) . RUBENS cafe should be down at some point with some free drinks samples and Meat n Eat a few doors up do early Breakfast sandwiches etc....We are also very pleased that Meilir will be playing live outside the shop at about 8.30am ahead of his FOCUS WALES and GREEN MAN FESTIVAL appearances. There will be a few FREEBIES for the first customers!
So hopefully see you next week at some point and thanks for your continued support throughout the year!

Our Record Store Day list
RECORD
STORE DAY - a preview of our first list is now up on the website RSD
page. All titles are expected but not confirmed (this happens for all
stores last minute). as soon as any title is fully confirmed we will
advise on the RSD page, titles either withdrawn or unavailable will be
removed from our page....this allows you to know exactly what will be in
on the day. We expect more to be added to
our list before the day so keep checking....with one final check on the
Friday before Record store Day. As always there will be very low
numbers of eack listing (in some cases only 1) due to each being pressed
in such small quantities.....this will be the case for all
participating stores, so bear this in mind on the day.

Five years on
FIVE YEARS....today the shop turns 5 having opened on Feb.6th 2009. Hard to imagine that the level of interest in Vinyl would increase/return so much in the short time we have been here, thanks to everyone who has supported the shop (and the Fairs). No big celebrations as all energy is focused on RECORD STORE DAY on Saturday April 19th which we think will be abit special (plans for day coming along nicely!). The most important thing is that INDEPENDENT music has a local presence and we will continue to do what we can (in our own small way).....thx and cu soon!

Get Spacerocked
Alot of interest in this, now instore.......
INTERSTELLAR OVERDRIVE
The Shindig! Guide To Spacerock
This special edition of Shindig! explores spacerock’s peculiar mix of heavy riffs and electronics through the age of the space race, the resulting sci-fi explosion and the mind-expanding influences of the acid-fried ‘60s and beyond.
We trace spacerock back to its roots with the soundtracks of the ’50s, including Louis and Bebe Barron’s FORBIDDEN PLANET, through to the incredible work of JOE MEEK on ‘Telstar’. In addition, we will cover the social and cultural context of the moon landings, sci-fi literature and the spaced-out cinema that shaped the end of the ’60s. In this environment came early spacerock efforts from THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE, PINK FLOYD and THE BYRDS.
One band arrived at the close of the decade to define the genre – HAWKWIND. Just as influential in their own idiosyncratic way were GONG with their Radio Gnome trilogy. Several artists pursued the electronic side of spacerock, such as SILVER APPLES and FIFTY FOOT HOSE, whilst the BBC RADIOPHONIC WORKSHOP added a distinct Britishness to proceedings. The Germans also produced their own unique contributions to the idiom with AMON DÜÜL II, NEU and ASH RA TEMPEL. At the close of the ’70s several artists such as CHROME utilised the punk spirit to reinvigorate spacerock.
The magazine will take the genre through the ’80s and ’90s with OZRIC TENTACLES and the cross-pollination of the indie scene with SPACEMEN 3 and LOOP. Taking things up to the present day and proving the genre is still in rude health are the likes of ASTRA, THE HEADS and WHITE HILLS. There will also be numerous diversions through key spacerock obscurities as well as articles from the likes of Johnny Truck, Patrick Lundborg, Ian Abrahams and Rich Deakin.
