Black Friday understood
RECORD STORE DAYS version of Black Friday is an excuse to celebrate both the releases themselves and the unique indie record stores who carry them. Cheap, mass produced frenzy is not the goal.Black Friday is always the day after Thanksgiving. This year Black Friday takes place on Friday, November 25th. It is an American thing with very limited amounts making it over the Pond, this means UK copies are instant collectables.Unlike RSD, Stores will launch the special releases on Black Friday but can carry them beyond Black Friday, although this will depend on interest in any paricular title. There will be markedly fewer titles during the
Black Friday period than youll find on a Record Store Day release list. By design, Record Store Day is not attempting to create the massive music celebration of Record Store Day.Rather, they are reminding music fans about the gift of music at the kick off of the holiday season.

RSD feedback
Last Saturdays Record Store Day was nothing short of amazing....thanks to all for your support. It was our busiest day EVER at the shop and our Record Fair Event over the road at the Daniel Owen Community Centre was buzzing. We had printed 400 Newsletters to be handed out as per usual on the door at the venue...they had all gone by 12.30pm.
Hats off to all in the queue at the shop on RSD with the first there at 12.02am, thats some wait till 9am opening, especially in near Artic conditions. The support of all is appreciated so much, we feel very lucky. To hear of new friendships being forged in the queue is the icing on the cake.RSD leftovers and there are not many, are now listed on our Website RSD page which will be updated daily until next Saturday when any remaining titles will go on our online Store.Waiting for feedback from RSD organisers but guessing that this has probably been a great year all around the UK for the day.

RSD announcement today
SATURDAY 16th APRIL - OUR SHOP WILL BE PARTICIPATING ONCE AGAIN....can't
wait!
BBC Music today announces an exciting new partnership with Record Store Day UK as the event gears up for its ninth annual celebration of independent record shops and the vinyl format.
Special programming will take place across the BBC’s radio networks, and in particular on BBC Radio 6 Music. In the run up to Record Store Day, on his 6 Music show Steve Lamacq (Mon to Fri, 4-7pm) will be speaking to different record stores around the UK, revealing what events are taking place on the day. It is expected that more than 25,000 music fans will be going along to their local record shops from the early hours on Saturday 16 April.
Also on 6 Music, Lauren Laverne’s show (10am-1pm) will be broadcasting live from a record store on Friday 15 April. The station will also be the first to announce the very exclusive Record Store Day product list. Further tailored programming on BBC Radio will be announced in due course.James Stirling, Editor of BBC Music, says: “BBC Music is always keen to support moments that unite people through their love of music. Record Store Day does exactly that and we are very happy to be officially involved this year.”
Rupert Morrison, of The Drift Record Shop in Totnes, says: “The BBC has an utterly unique voice and is an organisation like no other on the planet. Their commitment to promoting music and artists, both breaking and established, is hugely important and a perfect partner for all of the record shops under the Record Store Day banner.”
Record Store Day launched in the UK in 2008 and has since recruited over 220 independent record shops across the UK to take part in the event, with keen record buyers queuing through the night to secure limited edition records. Vinyl has always been a core part of the event since its launch, and Record Store Day has in turn spearheaded the UK vinyl revival as sales topped 2.1m units in 2015.
